Powers & Jurisdiction

The Provincial Civil Appellate High Court of the Eastern Province Holden at Kalmunai exercises appellate and revisionary jurisdiction over judgments, decrees and orders delivered by District Courts and Family Courts within the Eastern Province, governed by the Civil Procedure Code (Chapter 101).

Civil Appellate Jurisdiction

01. Leave to Appeal, 02. Final Appeal, 04. Appeals notwithstanding the lapse of time, 05. Acceleration of Cases.

Revisionary Jurisdiction

03. Revision cases governed by Sections 765 to 777 of the Civil Procedure Code (Chapter 101) to correct errors of law or fact and ensure fair administration of justice.
